The Campaign
About the National Drugs Campaign
The National Drugs Campaign is a prevention campaign that aims to reduce the number of young Australians who are taking illegal drugs.
Key campaign messages for young people are:
- There's a downside and no real benefits to using illegal drugs.
- You can enjoy life without taking illegal drugs.
- There are people who can help you if you're worried about drug use.
There are heaps of young Australians who are getting a buzz out of life without taking illegal drugs. The Campaign introduces some young people who are doing just that-living their lives clear-headed and clear of illegal drugs.
The campaign gives young people the cold hard facts about drugs. Three television commercials and print advertisements show some of the possible real-life consequences of taking drugs. The ads are pretty serious but that's because illegal drug use is a serious issue.
Life can be challenging. For young people experiencing problems or who have a friend in this situation, the Campaign provides a handy list of informative web sites and phone numbers. There are resources for you to view online or order.
As well as providing information for young people, the Campaign gives information to parents about drugs and encourages them to talk with their kids about drugs. So don't be surprised if your mum, dad, carer or guardian want to talk with you about drugs.
